Biography
Usman Ali Shams is a Research Associate at MicroNano Lab, CISS Global, with an interdisciplinary research background spanning hematology, molecular genetics, cancer biology, diagnostic pathology, and artificial intelligence for biomedical applications. He holds a master’s degree in medical laboratory sciences with specialization in Hematology from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, where he graduated with a CGPA of 3.73/4.00, received a fully funded Graduate Fellowship, and secured first position in his cohort. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology from Khyber Medical University.
His research focuses on hematologic malignancies, molecular mechanisms of cancer, therapy resistance, cancer epigenetics, and the development of computational and AI-assisted approaches for disease diagnosis. He has contributed to projects involving leukemia, DNA methylation, cancer-cell apoptosis, anemia, thalassemia, platelet disorders, and AI-based analysis of peripheral blood and histopathology images.
At CISS Global, his work involves interdisciplinary biomedical research combining hematology, imaging, computational analysis, and emerging technologies to develop accessible and clinically relevant diagnostic solutions. His technical experience includes PCR, qPCR, ELISA, HPLC, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, microscopy, hematological diagnostics, and computational analysis using Python, R, SPSS, GraphPad, and related bioinformatics tools.
His broader research goal is to integrate molecular, cellular, computational, and translational approaches to better understand hematologic malignancies and develop improved strategies for cancer diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment.
